Fire damaged rooms at Budget Inn along East Byers Avenue in New Stanton on Friday afternoon.

Fire destroyed or extensively damaged three rooms at Budget Inn on East Byers Avenue in New Stanton on Friday afternoon.

Multiple fire departments responded to the fire, which was reported at noon, according to the Westmoreland County Public Safety department.

Several people were moving out of the motel Friday afternoon in the fire’s wake.

A man who identified himself as a motel employee declined to comment on the fire or the damage at the motel.

The American Red Cross were helping our residents who were staying in the three rooms that were affected, said Nicole Roschella, a spokeswoman for the American Red Cross’ Greater Pennsylvania Region. Red Cross volunteers were providing those residents with financial assistance as well as comfort kits, which contain basic personal supplies needed by those displaced persons in the aftermath of a disaster, Roschella said.

The motel, at 221 E. Byers Ave., is owned by GT Hotels Inc. A spokesperson for GT Hotels could not be reached for comment.

A spokesperson for the New Stanton Fire Department could not be reached for comment Friday.

Additional details were not available Friday.
