A state police fire marshal determined fireworks caused a house fire in Penn Township on Monday night, Trooper Steve Limani said.

There was minor damage to the home on Dolly Avenue, said Harrison City Volunteer Fire Department Chief Gene Good. Crews were called there after 10 p.m.

Siding on the home was melted and flames spread into the attic, Good said. Firefighters were able to get a “very quick knockdown,” he said.

Residents were home at the time and able to escape. No injuries were reported.

Dolly Avenue is in a heavily residential area near Harrison Park Elementary School.

Fireworks cannot be discharged within 150 feet of a building or vehicle, including those owned by the fireworks user, or on public or private property without the owner’s permission under state law. Anyone in violation could face a fine of up to $500 for the first offense.
