A small fire was quickly extinguished Monday at a Greensburg house that recently was sold.

City Fire Chief Tom Bell said there was a small fire in the corner of the kitchen near some power tools that were not plugged in.

“First crew got in and knocked it down really quick,” Bell said.

The new owner was doing renovations during the weekend at the Glenview Avenue home and found smoke when he returned Monday morning. The fire was reported around 7:40 a.m.

No one was hurt and the home was vacant at the time, Bell said. The new deed has not yet been processed by Westmoreland County. The for sale sign still sat in the front yard.

A city fire marshal is investigating the cause.
