A renovated mobile home was destroyed by fire Monday in the Rostraver neighborhood of Collinsburg.

Fire Chief Joel Koricich said the home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived after 11 a.m. A resident of the Collinsburg Road home had left to take a dog for a walk and returned to find the fire, he said.

No one was hurt.

Rostraver police assisted before firefighters arrived. Crews were on scene for about two hours.

Koricich said it can be difficult to staff volunteer departments during daylight hours when many members are at work.

“Certainly, this is a really challenging time for many of our fire companies,” he said.

A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause.

“It’s a total loss,” Koricich said.

The damaged home is near the intersection with Hickory Drive, across the Youghiogheny River from West Newton. The American Red Cross reportedly was assisting two people who live there.
