Firearms safety, gun rights seminar coming to Hempfield church

State Rep. Eric Nelson is sponsoring a firearms safety and gun rights seminar March 21 at Word of Life Church in Hempfield.

Nelson (R-Hempfield) said the seminar will have multiple speakers discussing the state’s concealed carry laws and the Castle Doctrine. It will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Word of Life Church, 4497 Route 136, near Greensburg.

Scheduled speakers include Kim Stolfer, president of Firearms Owners Against Crime, and Greensburg attorney Ed Bilik.

The Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Department Mobile Unit also will be available to issue new and renewed gun permits to county residents at least 21 years old. Valid photo identification and $20 in cash or check are required.

The event is free, but space is limited. Residents should RSVP by calling Nelson’s office at 724-834-6400 or by filling out a form on his website at www.RepNelson.com/events.

The 57th Legislative District includes Greensburg, portions of Hempfield and Salem townships, and Delmont, Hunker, New Stanton, South Greensburg, Southwest Greensburg and Youngwood boroughs.
