Firefighters helped a resident of this Sewickley Township house get out safely when it caught fire Saturday morning.

Firefighters helped a Sewickley Township resident get out of a burning home Saturday morning before extinguishing the flames.

Herminie Fire Chief Eric Kline said the blaze, in the 500 block of McClerge Avenue, was reported just before 11 a.m.

The chief said it appeared to have started on the home’s front porch.

After shuttling the resident outside, firefighters battled flames that spread from the first floor to the second level and attic, he said.

One firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation.

The resident rescued from the home was not hurt. Kline said he called in extra manpower to help give firefighters a rest in Saturday’s heat.
