More flash flood warnings issued for areas around Pittsburgh
Additional flash flood warnings are being issued for the Pittsburgh area.
The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued flash flood warnings for:
• An area including Bethel Park, Washington and Canonsburg until 7:15 p.m. Sunday.
• An area including Monroeville, Plum and West Mifflin until 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
• An area including Waynesburg, Morrisville and Marianna is in effect until 6:15 p.m. Sunday.
• An area including California, Centerville and Bentleyville until 5:45 p.m. Sunday.
• An area including Greensburg, Latrobe and Loyalhanna until 4:15 p.m. Sunday.
A warning for an area including Uniontown, Masontown and Oliver, to be in effect until 4:15 p.m., was upgraded to considerable flash flooding. The weather service was advising residents to stay off of the roads.
The weather service said it has been getting reports of flooding in Fayette and Westmoreland counties from training storms.
Slow-moving storms are a concern this afternoon and evening, the weather service said. Residents are advised to stay alert to changing conditions as flooding could escalate quickly. Motorists are urged to never drive through a flooded road.
A flood watch covering Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties began at noon and is in effect until 8 p.m.
