Food donations will mean free skate rentals at Sunday’s public skate session at Kirk S. Nevin Arena in Greensburg.

City council on Monday approved a measure offering free rentals to anyone who brings a donation to the skating session.

Sunday’s public skate session at the Lynch Field arena is 2-4 p.m. A skate rental is typically $3.

Greensburg is undertaking a city-wide food drive to benefit nonprofit Feeding the Spirit, which provides free hot meals in a drive-thru format on Thursdays at Otterbein United Methodist Church.

The city is also offering free meter parking through Wednesday for anyone who donates a food item or money. Donations are being accepted at businesses throughout Greensburg.

Items being sought include canned goods, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, cereal, single-serve snacks, boxed and microwaveable meals, shelf-stable milk, formula, detergent, shampoo/conditioner, soap, toothpaste/toothbrush, aluminum foil, paper products, wipes, diapers, feminine hygiene products and can openers.
