Former Derry Twp. man sentenced up to 15 years in prison for child sex offenses
An Indiana County man was sentenced in Westmoreland County Court to 7½ to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting an underage girl over two years.
Jason E. Matty, 48, of Blacklick and formerly of Derry Township was sentenced Thursday by Judge Christopher Feliciani after pleading guilty to involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a girl younger than 16 and statutory sexual assault and corruption of minors. Matty was sentenced to 2 to 4 years on the statutory sexual assault charge and 5½ to 11 years on the involuntary deviate sexual intercourse charges.
Feliciani also ordered Matty to be placed under probation for five years. He must register as a sexual offender under Megan’s Law and undergo a sexual evaluation.
He was arrested in June 2009 on charges he had sexual contact with the underage girl. Later that month, he was charged with stalking, harassment and criminal mischief for trying to contact his victim, in part by sending text messages and leaving condoms and a woman’s underwear near the victim’s home.
Matty was placed on probation for the charges of stalking, harassment and criminal mischief charges.
Matty was returned to Westmoreland County Prison to await transfer to a state prison.
