A man accused in a Southwest Greensburg hit-and-run was arraigned on the charges Wednesday and is being held in the Westmoreland County Prison.

Bond for Justin Lamont Hudspath, 38, of Greensburg was set at $35,000, according to online court records.

Hudspath was arrested a week ago at a home north of Kittanning, Armstrong County.

A man in his 30s was seriously injured on Dec. 3, 2019, when he was hit by a Ford dump truck investigators say was being driven by Hudspath, who is charged with aggravated assault by vehicle, accidents involving death or injury while not properly licensed, giving false information and several other summary offenses.

The injured man was found lying on the road at Sidney Street and Westminster Avenue. He was hospitalized with multiple skull fractures and a traumatic brain injury, according to court papers filed by county detectives.

Investigators were able to connect plastic pieces lying on the ground to a Ford dump truck parked in Greensburg that had damage consistent with the hit-and-run, according to court papers.

Hudspath, who was working as a private contractor for a Greensburg construction business, was identified as the person who was using the truck at the time, police said. A coworker told investigators that he and Hudspath had a few drinks after work on Dec. 3, 2019, and Hudspath dropped him off at home, not far from the hit-and-run scene, according to court papers.

Hudspath’s drivers license had been suspended, but it was unclear why from court records.

He also is facing charges in Armstrong County for allegedly failing to update his sex offender registration under Megan’s Law, according to online court records. Bond was set at $50,000 in that case. Hudspath is a lifetime registrant after a 2004 sexual assault conviction in Westmoreland County.

Hudspath did not have an attorney listed in online court records. Preliminary hearings are set for Jan. 26 in the hit-and-run case and March 2 for the Megan’s Law violations.
