A former Mt. Pleasant woman pleaded guilty in two separate fraud indictments, according to U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady.

Jennifer L. Clark, also known as Jennifer Gill, 42, is a former Mt. Pleasant resident now living in Pinellas Park, Fla. Clark pleaded guilty to four counts in connection with two separate cases.

In the first case, Clark is accused of stealing company employee credit cards and processing unauthorized payments while working for Elite Oil between August 2015 and October 2016.

Clark “set up mobile payment accounts in the false names of other businesses, and used the credit card information to authorize fraudulent payments into her own personal bank account,” Brady said in a news release.

The second case originated in 2017, when prosecutors say Clark, then working for Wright Traffic Control, used the identity of a former employee to process payroll checks, then forged the ex-employee’s signature and deposited them into her own bank account.

The initial indictment alleges Clark was responsible for fraudulent transactions totaling about $144,000.

U.S. District Judge Joy Flowers Conti set sentencing for June 9. Clark faces up to 54 years in prison and fines up to $1.25 million.
