Former Penn Township man sentenced on child porn charges
A former Penn Township man will serve at least nine months in jail after he pleaded guilty Tuesday to possession of child pornography.
Prosecutors said 22 images of child pornography were found on computers owned by Raymond Patrick Younger, 40, now of Blacklick, Indiana County. The images were of children, under age 18, engaged in sex acts, according to court records.
“I committed a crime. Although I’ve sought treatment and given my life to Christ, I understand I must pay for what I’ve done,” Younger said in court documents.
Young pleaded guilty to seven counts of child pornography and one charge of the unlawful use of a communications device. As part of the plea bargain, prosecutors dismissed 15 felony counts of child pornography.
In court on Tuesday, Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court Judge Scott Mears sentenced Younger to serve 9 to 23 months in jail and five years on probation.
The judge also prohibited Younger from using the Internet, ordered he have a mental health evaluation and have no unsupervised contact with minors. He was allowed to begin serving his jail sentence on Feb. 17.
“It’s really very sick stuff,” Mears said of the images Younger possessed. “It’s really very bad and, obviously, you will pay the price for this.”
Animal cruelty charges against Younger were dismissed this year in Indiana County.
