Jacob Lazar, 18, of Penn Township, was fatally injured on Thursday, July 4, 2024, while volunteering to clear away storm-damaged trees in North Huntingdon.

A fundraiser will be held at an Irwin art and gift shop on Sept. 15 for the family of an 18-year-old Penn Township firefighter killed this summer while clearing trees downed by a tornado.

Feathers Gift Shop at 102 Fourth St., will hold a special event 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 15 for people to paint an Eagle feather in honor and memory Jacob Lazar of Penn Township, who was killed on July 4 while clearing storm-damaged trees at the Trafford Sportsman’s Club in North Huntingdon. Lazar, a volunteer firefighter with the Paintertown fire department, was hit in the head by a tree that had fallen from an excavator bucket.

Lazar would have been a senior at Penn-Trafford High School and was an Eagle Scout.

The event is free of charge and donations will be accepted to support Lazar’s family.

For more information, contact Tracy Alaia, owner of Feathers, at 412-930-1954.
