The cast of the Geyer Performing Arts Center’s show “I Want My Mummy” poses for a photo in October. In the back row stands (from left) Finn Sussan, Olivia Powell, Sophia Teets, Julia Ptacek, Jimmy Sullenberger, Zavier Bechtold, (middle row) Bella Maroney, Reagan Gammon, Ava Widziszewski, Paisley Travalena, (front row) Jaden Mervius, Emmalyn Sandusky and Ryeley Ellsworth.

A vampire, mummy, werewolf and other scary figures will take the stage next week at the Geyer Performing Arts Center in Scottdale for the theater’s family-friendly production, “I Want My Mummy.”

The comedic Halloween-themed show will take place at 7 p.m. on Oct. 27, as well as 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Oct. 28. Tickets can be purchased for $10 at geyerpac.com or at the door.

The cast has been rehearsing about three or four nights a week for six weeks, said Director Tina Stew.

“They’re just funny. They make you laugh,” Stew said. “And it’s a real light comedy. The kids will really love the show. It’s done for kids by kids.”

The show will feature 13 actors and actresses from ages 9 to 14. They will tell the story of the monstrous residents of Baroness Frankenstein’s castle who pose as servants when the castle owner pays a visit.

Children attending the show can dress in costume and receive treats from the cast.

This is the first children’s show for the theater, Stew said. Her goal is to involve more young people in theater so they can continue to enjoy it as they get older.

Stew and co-director David Postlethwait will direct the second children’s production in December, a Winnie the Pooh Christmas show.
