A team from the Google Safety Roadshow talked with Franklin Regional Middle School students about internet safety on Friday.

Franklin Regional officials have been emphasizing the concept of “the five C’s” with students — creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, communication and citizenship.

“We want to make sure you’re productive citizens and that you stay safe online,” Superintendent Gennaro Piraino said.

Google team members focused on several online-safety concepts like securing personal information, being kind to others and not falling for scams or misrepresentations.

In teaching students about being careful who they share photos and videos with, or example, they illustrated the speed at which information can spread online by handing a photo to a student in the front row, only to reveal that the same photo was taped to the chairs in half the middle-school auditorium.
