Area Peebles stores will convert and reopen as Gordmans stores on Feb. 18.

Area Peebles stores, including those in Belle Vernon, Mt. Pleasant, Ellwood City, Allegheny Township, New Castle and Somerset, will hold hiring events this week as the locations transform into Gordmans stores.

The stores will open under the new name on Feb. 18, the company says.

The apparel and home décor retailer will hire at 23 store locations in Pennsylvania.

Gordmans has been in business for more than 100 years. It is part of the Stage community of stores, which is converting its Peebles and other department store name plates to Gordmans.

The company describes the retailer as an off-price concept offering favorite brands at prices lower than department stores.

Available positions can include manager, assistant manager, sales associate and stockroom associate.

Candidates can apply online at gordmans.com/careers and then visit a job fair from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 7 at the new locations. Walk-ins are welcome, the company says.
