Greensburg council hired two new full-time police officers Monday.

Jacob Fazekas and David Judy will be paid about $56,000 each. Fazekas had been working in Jeannette and Judy was in Trafford, said Greensburg police Chief Charles Irvin.

Both were expected to start work in Greensburg this month. They were sworn in Monday by Mayor Robb Bell after being hired.

With Fazekas and Judy, the department is up to 26 officers, including the chief and captain.

Fazekas was one of four Jeannette officers honored last year for helping to rescue a woman and two children from a burning home on Guy Street March 20. A man and four children perished in the blaze.
