A Greensburg attorney charged with stealing nearly $50,000 from a Fayette County fraternal organization where he served as treasurer entered into a plea agreement this week and will serve 18 months on house arrest.
Donald Blake Moreman, 58, of Bullskin Township, pleaded guilty Monday in connection with the thefts from the Pleasant Valley Masonic Center, according to court records. He was sentenced by Fayette Judge Joseph George Jr. to intermediate punishment for 36 months, with 18 months on house arrest.
Moreman also agreed to pay back the money as part of the agreement.
Moreman pleaded guilty to forgery and theft by deception that stemmed from the thefts from bank accounts of the association, also located in Bullskin.
County Detective John Marshall said Moreman, who served as the group’s treasurer, forged signatures to steal the money and diverted it to himself for personal use between June 2017 and August 2018.
Moreman’s law license is still listed as active on the state Supreme Court Disciplinary Board website.
Messages left for Moreman and his private attorney, William J. Wiker, of Greensburg, were not immediately returned.
