Greensburg forum to discuss mental health, substance abuse issues
The crisis in mental health and substance abuse during the pandemic will be discussed by several speakers at a program planned from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Greensburg YWCA, 424 N. Main St.
Representatives from the Blackburn Center in Greensburg, MedMark Treatment Centers, Sage’s Army of Hempfield, Westmoreland Community Action, Westmoreland County Behavioral Health in Greensburg, Clear Day Treatment Center of Westmoreland and Dream Life Recovery treatment center of Donegal will participate in the Crisis/De-escalation/Recovery Forum.
Unity in the Community of Southwestern Pennsylvania, a Greensburg-based activist group, is sponsoring the event, which will include awards for people of color in Westmoreland County communities.
“We must come together to recognize Black history, and honor Black leaders in the community. I’m excited to do this work to help my community,” said Ronel Baccus, organizer of Unity in the Community. There will be food and entertainment at the event, as well as a table providing information on resources that people may need for assistance.
