You’ve heard of farm-to-table goods, but Greensburg Garden Center members are going yard-to-table for their annual Christmas decor sale.

Many of the fresh greens that will be available, along with decorative touches like pine cones and dried flowers that are added to sale items, are sourced from members’ yards.

The sale is planned for 3-7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday in the Greensburg Garden & Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road.

“We cut our own greens,” said GGC co-president Carla Rusnica. “The pine cones are gathered from our yards or along our travels. You can’t get any fresher than that.”

Sale items include individually decorated artificial trees ranging in height from 2 to 6.5 feet, pre-made wreaths, topiaries, ornaments, lanterns, painted wooden cutouts and other items, from whimsical to formal.

Greensburg Garden Center co-president Carla Rusnica decorates a tree for the center’s Dec. 3-4 Christmas sale.

The creations are crafted by members in a workroom filled with ribbons, bows, ornaments and more that have been donated, purchased or gathered over the years.

“We have tiny things to giant things,” said sale chair Nadine Mason.

Among new items this year are small snowman ornaments in gold gift boxes.

Fresh greens include more wreaths, swags, baskets, pine roping and kissing balls.

“The baskets are very popular,” Rusnica said. “They’re so popular that we can’t make them fast enough.”

Baskets come filled with various greens and are embellished with assorted pine cones, colored balls and a large bow.

Prices begin at just a few dollars for smaller items, Rusnica said.

“Everything is priced nicely,” she said. “We only have two days to sell, and we don’t want to have anything left over.”

Fresh greens also can be pre-ordered by calling the garden center office at 724-837-0245.
