The idea for Greensburg Garden Center’s upcoming “Punch Up Your Holidays” program came from someone wanting to donate a punch bowl to the group.

That got members thinking of different ways to put some new pizzazz into holiday drinks, decor and dress, co-president Carla Rusnica said.

They’ll share some ideas during the event scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Rizzo’s Banquet Hall, 126 Rizzo Road, Crabtree.

The centerpiece of the evening will be a citrus punch fountain, Rusnica said.

Guests will be treated to a show of men’s holiday fashions from Lapels A Fine Men’s Clothier in Greensburg.

For the ladies, Jennifer Amundson, owner of Spa 309 Salon & Boutique in Greensburg, will pick several guests out of the crowd and demonstrate ways to accessorize their outfits.

Garden center member Marian DeBone will give a lesson on fancy napkin-folding, then she and Rusnica will demonstrate how to create a kissing ball ornament.

“Everything’s going to be punched up,” Rusnica said.

Tony and Renata Marino, founders of Westmoreland Performing Arts, will entertain.

“They’ll sing several songs to get people in the holiday spirit,” Rusnica said. “That’s what this is all about.”

Tony Marino also will play emcee for the evening.

In addition to the punch fountain, three other types of nonalcoholic punch will be served. A cash wine bar will be available.

An appetizer buffet will feature some of Chef Rizzi DeFabo’s signature dishes, including pumpkin ravioli, chicken Romano bites, two kinds of bruschetta and cheese platters.

A raffle of about a dozen baskets is planned, with contents including wine and cheese, Steelers-themed merchandise and Spode Christmas dinnerware.

A ticket is $65. To reserve by 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, call 724-837-0245.
