Greensburg legal services office merges with regional organization

Laurel Legal Services in Greensburg is now known as Summit Legal Aid after merging operations with Southwestern Pennsylvania Legal Aid in Washington.

The organizations have the same mission, to provide individuals with limited resources free community legal services in family, housing, financial security and domestic violence matters. As Summit Legal Aid, they will continue those services as well as advocacy, education and tax help projects.

The Washington-based organization handled 3,662 cases in 2022 and Laurel Legal defended 2,513 clients. Attorneys involved in the nonprofit provide legal advice and representation.

The combined organization assists with legal needs in Armstrong, Cambria, Clarion, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Jefferson, Somerset, Washington and Westmoreland counties. The office in Greensburg on East Otterman Street will remain open.
