Greensburg man charged with assault of child
Greensburg police on Wednesday charged a city man with the assault of a 10-year-old boy.
Charges of aggravated assault, strangulation, child endangerment and other related offenses were filed against Aaron Michael Adair, 30, in connection with an incident police said occurred July 21.
Police said witnesses claimed they saw Adair straddle the childand threaten to kill him.
According to a police report, a witness told police Adair strangled the boy and smashed his head on the bottom of a door following an incident in which the child was accused of not following Adair’s instructions.
“I should just kill you now,” a witness claimed Adair told the child during the alleged assault, police said.
Adair’s girlfriend told police Adair fled the home a few days later with the boy and another child. He was found later in Jeannette and taken into custody.
Police said Adair initially accused his girlfriend of causing the boy’s injuries.
Adair is being held at Westmoreland County Prison without bond.
A preliminary hearing before Greensburg Magisterial District Judge Chris Flanigan is scheduled for Aug. 4.
