A Greensburg man was jailed Saturday after city police said he provided a stamp bag of what he believed was heroin to his nephew, who was visiting from Ohio and had never tried the drug, according to court papers.

Police said the stamp bag contained fentanyl, a deadly opioid that has contributed to dozens of accidental overdose deaths in recent years.

Michael A. Rebosky, 56, is charged with drug delivery resulting in death and related offenses.

Authorities said they were called Oct. 22 at 9:30 p.m. to Eastmont Estates and found Christopher Rebosky, 38, of Englewood, Ohio, unresponsive. He was taken to a hospital where he died two days later.

Police through several search warrants and interviews learned that the pair used cocaine together when Christopher Rebosky got to Greensburg, according to court papers. Later, a woman at Rebosky’s home wanted heroin so he borrowed $60 from his nephew and bought six stamp bags from someone in a mobile home community, police said.

She kept five bags and Michael Rebosky took the last one home and offered it to his nephew, according to court papers. They split the bag and Christopher Rebosky laid down because he didn’t feel well.

Michael Rebosky told police he left for about 15 minutes to buy cocaine and when he came back his nephew was unresponsive, according to court papers. He used naloxone, an opioid overdose reversal drug, but it didn’t have any effect.

Rebosky was being held without bail at the Westmoreland County Prison. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records. An Aug. 4 preliminary hearing is set.

Christopher Rebosky worked in hospital security, according to his obituary. He enjoyed going to church, boxing and spending time with family.
