A Greensburg man was ordered Monday to serve up to 42 months in state prison for the drunken aggravated assault of a police officer last year in Latrobe.

Bruce Hudak, 41, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and drunk driving offenses in connection an incident last Aug. 17. According to court records, he was arrested in August after his vehicle crashed into the back porch of a home on Lloyd Avenue in Latrobe.

Hudak’s blood alcohol level was 0.352%, more than four times in which a motorist in Pennsylvania is considered to be intoxicated, according to court records.

“It maybe the highest blood alcohol I’ve ever seen. Maybe some people would not have survived at that level,” said Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court Judge Tim Krieger.

Hudak initially failed to comply with authorities to get out of the vehicle and was eventually removed from it, taken to the ground and handcuffed, according to court records. Police said Hudak was taken to an area hospital, where he was not cooperative with medical personnel as they attempted draw blood.

One officer was injured when he was kneed in the head by Hudak during the procedure, according to court records.

The judge sentenced Hudak to serve at least 21 months behind bars and imposed an additional $1,000 fine.

Hudak was ordered to begin serving his prison sentence on Friday.
