A Greensburg man was sentenced Friday to 12 to 24 years in a state prison for the sexual assault of a 3-year-old boy.
James A. Swanson, 48, was ordered to spend three years on probation after the prison term is over.
He was convicted in March of rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse. Evidence presented at trial in Westmoreland County court indicated Swanson sexually assaulted the boy in 2019 and 2020. That evidence included testimony and video recorded by the boy’s mother in which the child described and demonstrated what witnesses said was sexual abuse.
The boy, now 9, reported the alleged assaults in a series of statements made to a therapist and other adults, prosecutors said.
Swanson is required to register for the rest of his life as a sex offender under Megan’s Law.
He testified during trial that the allegations were false and concocted by the boy’s mother. Jurors found him not guilty of one count of aggravated indecent assault.
