Greensburg man sentenced in Derry, Latrobe armed robberies
A Greensburg man will serve up to five-and-a-half years in prison for armed robberies in Derry Borough and Latrobe.
Jericho Dechicchis, 18, pleaded guilty Monday to counts of robbery, reckless endangerment and illegal possession of firearms in connection with two incidents in October 2017.
According to court records, Dechicchis broke into a Latrobe apartment, pointed a gun at a man and demanded money before he fled.
Police said that four days later, Dechicchis confronted a woman on a street in Derry, threatened to shoot her, grabbed her by the throat and took $80. Police said the victim identified Dechicchis as a classmate at Greensburg-Salem High School.
Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court Judge Tim Krieger sentenced Dechicchis to serve two concurrent terms of 30 to 66 months in prison and an additional two years on probation. As part of the plea bargain, prosecutors agreed to dismiss strangulation and aggravated assault charges.
Although Dechicchis was 17 at the time of his arrest, he was prosecuted as an adult.
