A Greensburg man was ordered Thursday to serve up to five years in prison for secretly recording images of two teenage girls in a bathroom.

Carlos Rafael Alvarado, 49, was convicted following a nonjury trial in February of one felony charge of attempting to record illicit images of a child and misdemeanor offenses of invasion of privacy and other related counts.

Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court Judge Christopher Feliciani initially issued a warrant for Alvarado’s arrest on Thursday after he failed to appear for his sentencing hearing. Alvarado had been free on an $80,000 bond following his arrest in November 2018.

Court officials said Alvarado arrived in court about an hour later.

Feliciani imposed a 2 1/2- to five-year prison sentence and ordered Alvarado also serve two additional years on probation and register with state police as a convicted sex offender.

The judge also rejected a defense request to overturn the guilty verdict.

Alvarado did not testify at his trial.
