A Greensburg man will spend the rest of his life behind bars after a judge last week levied 22 consecutive sentences in connection with the rape of a 5-year-old child and recording videos of a woman engaged in sex acts with the boy.

Charles Jason Hunter, 36, was sentenced to 84 to 168 years in a state prison.

The lengthy sentence seemed as though it would satisfy the adoptive mother of the child, according to a statement she wrote that was read aloud in court by Assistant District Attorney James Lazar.

“I hope you rot in this jail cell and you will never see freedom again,” he read.

Hunter was convicted in April of the 22 counts, including rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and child pornography offenses. He was charged in 2018 after his mother gave police a copy of the video, which she received from his then-girlfriend.

Corby Jo Kinzey, 28, of Greensburg told jurors during Hunter’s trial that he took four videos of her engaged in sex acts with the boy. Hunter repeatedly requested she have sex with the child and was an active participant with her and the boy several times, she claimed. Kinzey pleaded guilty last month.

Lazar pushed for consecutive sentences.

“There’s no redemption that is possible with him. There’s no chance for rehabilitation for someone who’s capable of these things,” he said.

Judge Christopher Feliciani admonished Hunter for robbing the child of his innocence and subjecting him to “extreme trauma.” The adoptive mother said the child is now in a loving home.

“I often tell people I would walk on fire for that child … no one ever put that child first. Well I have,” Lazar said, reading from her statement. “I hope you live a long life in jail so you can remember what you did to get there.”

Hunter apologized through his defense attorney Douglas Sepic. A brain injury in an accident about 10 years ago affected his personality and cognitive abilities, Sepic said.

“He expresses his sincere apology for everything that’s happened and expressed to me deep remorse for the impact this has had” on the child, Sepic said.

Charges against Amanda Smith, 32, of Greensburg, Hunter’s former girlfriend who initially received the video, have been dismissed.
