The Westmoreland County Coroner’s office reported a man who was shot and killed in his Greensburg home Tuesday took his own life.

Deputy Coroner John Ackerman said the death was ruled a suicide following an investigation by the coroner’s office and city police. An autopsy was performed Wednesday by forensic pathologist Dr. Cyril H. Wecht.

The coroner’s office declined to release the man’s identity.

City police and the coroner’s office responded to the man’s home on Menoher Way about 2 p.m. Tuesday following a report of a shooting.

Police cordoned off a section of Menoher Way after the shooting.
