Ollie’s Bargain Outlet in Greensburg has reopened after an eight-day closure related to a rodent infestation.
Signs announcing the closure were removed from the front doors and shoppers were going in and out of the store Wednesday afternoon. Greensburg code enforcement officer Steven Kohl said he reinspected the store Wednesday.
“They did pass that inspection,” Kohl said.
The store, located in the Davis Shopping Center along East Pittsburgh Street, was shuttered Feb. 24 after a Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture inspection found evidence of rodent activity in multiple areas. An inspector from the Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services reported finding excess droppings and urine, according to the inspection report.
State officials deemed the conditions an “imminent health hazard.” At the time, Greensburg code enforcement also posted a notice declaring the structure unsafe and prohibiting occupancy except for cleanup and remediation.
“We are working with the local authorities and expect the store to be opened shortly,” Ollie’s spokesperson Tom Kuypers, senior vice president of marketing, said at the time. Ollie’s corporate office could not be reached for comment Wednesday afternoon.
The February inspection that led to the closure followed a history of similar issues. An inspection in August 2025 noted rodent activity in the birdseed area, though the store remained open at that time. An inspection in June 2025 found no violations.
Ollie’s moved into the shopping center in the early 2000s. Other businesses in the strip — including Dollar Tree, Papa John’s, and Szechuan Garden — were not affected by the closure.
