It’s almost time to sign up for pavilion rentals in Greensburg, and some people living near the city will see a discount compared to years past.

As always, rentals are cheaper for residents. But, this year, officials expanded the definition to mean anyone living within the Greensburg Salem School District, not just within the city.

The change coincides with the creation of the Greater Greensburg Athletics organization as the city seeks to share more services with adjoining boroughs South Greensburg and Southwest Greensburg, said Greensburg Facility Manager Trudy Ivory.

Registration starts Feb. 4. Those interested must register at the recreation department offices at Kirk S. Nevin Arena.

There are two pavilions at Lynch Field, which will cost $100 for residents and $125 for non-residents. Two pavilions at Mt. Odin Golf Course cost $175 for residents and $200 for non-residents.

A third Mt. Odin facility, the Megan Smith pavilion, cannot be rented at the recreation department. Instead, would-be renters must contact the Mt. Odin pro shop, Ivory said. This pavilion is often used for golf outings and has limited availability.

Starting next year, the Mt. Odin Pro Shop will handle reservations for all three of its pavilions while the city recreation department will handle reservations for the Lynch Field facilities.

Further details are available by calling the recreation office at 724-834-4880 or visiting the city’s website.
