A teacher at Nicely Elementary in the Greensburg Salem School District tested positive for the coronavirus, administrators said Tuesday.

“We have contacted faculty and families whose children may have been in close contact with this teacher to inform them of the situation and to recommend quarantine and testing,” Superintendent Gary Peiffer said in a post on the district’s website.

Nicely Elementary is being deep-cleaned on Wednesday, and no faculty members are in the building, district officials said.

James H. Metzgar Elementary School in Salem was closed briefly in October after three students there tested positive for coronavirus.

Two middle school students also tested positive last month, however, the middle school remained open.

“We will update the public regarding what the next steps will be,” Peiffer said of Nicely Elementary in the district’s post.
