Greensburg Salem School District will dedicate its renovated athletic field Saturday morning, just before the first game on fresh turf.
The dedication at Offutt Field begins 8:45 a.m. Saturday.
The Golden Lions will take on Greater Latrobe for a preseason football scrimmage at 10 a.m.
The school placed new turf on the century-old field at a cost of about $316,000, paid for in part with a $150,000 grant from the Pittsburgh Steelers through the NFL Foundation Grassroots Program. The rest of the money came from the district’s capital fund.
The existing turf on the field was more than 12 years old.
