Greensburg is saying “so long” to three longtime employees.

Police Chief Chad Zucco’s last day will be March 30. Zucco, who announced his retirement last month, is stepping down after 22 years in the department, four of them as chief.

He accepted a job as chief operating officer of Gaskey and Associates, a Monroeville-based financial services firm.

Council is expected to begin a selection process soon to promote a new chief from within the department.

Also leaving is Jeff Humphrey, who is retiring from his job as an equipment operator for the Department of Public Works. The city hired him in 1992.

Council also accepted the resignation of police dispatcher Rachelle Pape. She’s been with the department 11 years.

“Those are three really good people we’re losing,” said Mayor Robert Bell.

In another personnel move, council hired the city’s existing part-time solicitor, Zachary J. Kansler, as a full-time employee with an annual salary of $80,000.
