Greensburg is seeking a new council member.

Councilwoman Cheryl Lennert resigned this month, citing family matters. The city hopes to fill her seat at its regular meeting Sept. 14, according to a notice published by city solicitor Zachary Kansler.

Applicants must drop off a letter of interest at City Hall on South Main Street by 3:30 p.m. Thursday .

Applicants must be at least 21 years old and have resided in Greensburg for at least the past year. Those interested are encouraged to attend council’s agenda meeting at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 8 to introduce themselves and discuss their interest in the position, according to the notice.

Lennert, a Democrat, was elected in 2016 and reelected to a second term in November. She oversaw the city’s parks and recreation department.

A successor will be appointed for the remainder of her term, which expires at the end of 2023.
