The Sheetz location in Greensburg is set to close for several months starting Oct. 1 for a major remodel.

Signs posted at the Harvey Avenue gas station and convenience store near Lynch Field indicate it will reopen in April.

Sheetz public relations manager Nick Ruffner said the new design will include updated gas pumps, self-service kiosks inside and additional seating inside and outside the convenience store.

Employees who work there have been offered jobs elsewhere in the company until the project is complete, he said.

“Sheetz continually remodels its stores to ensure its locations are meeting the needs of its future customers,” Ruffner said in a statement. “The company is directly supporting those efforts with this rebuild as this particular location opened 36 years ago and has been remodeled three times.”

The store was remodeled a couple years ago after getting a liquor license to add space for a beer cave and seating.

Other Sheetz locations in the area have undergone complete remodels in recent years, including the one in New Stanton that reopened December 2021.

Sheetz also has been looking at adding a second location in the city. Company officials cleared a zoning hurdle earlier this year in a bid to build at the Davis Center at the intersection of East Pittsburgh Street and Route 130 (Humphrey Road). Part of the existing multi-tenant Davis Center building would be demolished to make way for the Sheetz construction, but a rear portion of the structure would be retained, officials said during zoning hearing board meetings.
