A water main break behind the Westmoreland County courthouse on North Pennsylvania Avenue will be repaired.

The block of North Pennsylvania Avenue behind the Westmoreland County Courthouse will be blocked off for two days next week to allow for repairs on a water line, according to county public works director Greg McCloskey.

It will be closed to vehicle traffic Oct. 10 and 11 between West Otterman and West Pittsburgh streets.

An 8-inch water line 7 feet below the road broke Monday, McCloskey said. Temporary repairs have been made but the line needs to be replaced.

Work is scheduled between Oct. 10 and 20. During those 10 days, the pedestrian entrance to the courthouse from North Pennsylvania Avenue will be closed, he said. Courthouse visitors can use the main entrance on North Main Street or the foot bridge between the courthouse and a separate county building across North Pennsylvania Avenue.
