The Greensburg YMCA will host a public meeting on Thursday and again on Feb. 24 to get feedback on what people want from the facility and how the YMCA can meet the needs of the community.

“We really want to hear from the community, what they feel they need and how the Y will address it,” said Suzanne Printz, chief executive of the YMCA on South Maple Street.

The Shape our Future meetings, scheduled for 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 17 and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Feb. 24 at the facility, will help the YMCA as it embarks on the next phase of its strategic plan, Printz said. The information gathered at the meetings will help the YMCA decide “what we aspire to be and how to achieve it,” Printz said.

“It’s important that we have a full understanding of the thoughts of our community and stakeholders,” said Sydney Beeler, YMCA board president.

The Greensburg YMCA will design and deliver new programs and services that address critical issues in the areas of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, Beeler said.

After the meetings, the YMCA will conduct internal strategic planning sessions with staff, the YMCA board and community stakeholders, Printz said. She anticipates the strategic plan will be completed by March 31.

The YMCA did analyze feedback from two town hall sessions conducted last July and used that response to shape future programming and communications. YMCA officials at the time discussed the current state of its facility and how it was handling its reopening after being closed several months because of the covid pandemic.

Those planning to attend the Shape Our Future meetings must register online at greensburgymca.org/shape-our-future-meeting. YMCA membership is not required to attend the meeting.
