Greensburg's Palace Theatre opening its doors; here's who's hitting the stage, so far

Live entertainment is coming back strong at The Palace Theatre in Greensburg.

“With shows continually being added to the schedule, this fall will feature more performances than any other in Westmoreland Cultural Trust’s history of owning The Palace Theatre,” said Trust CEO April Kopas.

Along with new shows, shows postponed during the pandemic also are being rescheduled, she noted.

The doors of the historic 1,300-seat venue reopen on Friday, for a stop by the Happy Together Tour.

Featuring The Turtles, The Association, Mitch Ryder, The Buckinghams, The Classics IV and The Cowsills, the 8 p.m. concert promises an evening of chart-topping hits from the 1960s and ’70s.

Seats are still available, with ticket prices from $49.75 to $69.75.

“We are so proud to have the first national concert back at The Palace Theatre after 16 months,” said promoter Mike Elko of Elko Concerts. “The Happy Together Tour has always been a popular show, selling out the Pittsburgh market for the past 10 years.”

Newly announced shows include:

• Aug. 24 — The Beach Boys, with lineup including longtime members Mike Love and Bruce Johnston

• Sept. 16 — Squeeze, British new-wave rockers

• Oct. 8 — Almost Queen, four-piece Queen tribute act

• Oct. 19 — Brian Wilson, founding member of The Beach Boys

• Oct. 26 — Sebastian Bach, former front man of heavy-metal group Skid Row

• Nov. 9 — Cheap Trick, featuring original members Robin Zander, Rick Nielsen and Tom Petersson

• Nov. 23 — “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical”

• Jan. 14-15 — Get the Led Out, Led Zeppelin tribute act

• April 22 — Eric Johnson, Grammy Award-winning guitarist, vocalist, composer and multi-instrumentalist.

Other upcoming shows include Air Supply, Jamey Johnson, The Guess Who, Amy Grant, Brian Regan, Loverboy, The Monkees, REO Speedwagon, Marie Osmond and Travis Tritt.

“We have heard from so many people about how excited they are to experience live music once again,” Kopas said.

Enhanced health and safety measures will be in place for all events.

“It has been a long season of uncertainty and separation from the people and things that we love and hold dear,” said Ron Hausfeld of Flower Power Concerts Inc., producer of the Happy Together Tour. “This summer’s Happy Together Tour artists are so excited to be back together, sharing the music, love and memories that we all cherish.”
