Head to Greensburg for Small Business Saturday, play bingo, win prizes
Downtown Greensburg businesses are offering shoppers a chance to get more bang for their bucks on Saturday.
As part of Small Business Saturday, 21 participating merchants will offer shoppers Small Business Saturday Bingo cards to fill out for a chance to win prizes.
To play, shoppers take their cards along as they visit downtown shops. When shoppers visit a business, they must locate the holiday elf that will be placed somewhere inside each store. When a shopper finds the elf, they must have the store owner or a staff member sign the box on the card designated for that particular store.
Once a shopper completes a standard five-in-a-row bingo, their name will be placed in a drawing for a chance to win a gift card to a participating business. Twenty-one shoppers will win a gift card valued at $10 to $50.
Those who complete a blackout by filling every square on their bingo card will be entered to win the grand prize of a $300 gift card for a participating business of their choice.
“This year has been especially hard on our small business owners, so it’s more important than ever to shop small this holiday season,” said Ashley Kertes, executive director of the Greensburg Community Development Corp. “We’re excited to partner with the Greensburg Business & Professional Association and the Downtown Greensburg Project to host such a fun event that we hope will encourage shoppers to support the Greensburg business community.”
“All participating businesses must follow proper CDC guidelines, as the health and safety of everyone is our top priority,” Kertes said.
Business owners and employees will wear masks, clean and disinfect surfaces often, keep a physical distance of at least 6 feet and limit the number of people allowed in a store at one time. Individual business owners will determine how many people are allowed in their store.
Guests also will be required to wear masks and maintain physical distance inside stores.
Small Business Saturday is an annual nationwide event created by American Express as a way to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities, while encouraging consumers to shop local, according to a GCDC release.
“Small Business Saturday takes place every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Just as big box stores have Black Friday and Cyber Monday, small businesses have their own kickoff to the holiday shopping season,” the release said. “By shopping or dining at small businesses in our community, people show support for the businesses of downtown Greensburg, and ensure that they continue to thrive.”
