Hempfield industrial park eyed by high-tech start-up manufacturing company
A high-tech start-up manufacturing company is expected to occupy two parcels at the Westmoreland County Technology Park II in Hempfield.
County officials this week approved an option agreement for a company that represents Fossil Industries to purchase two parcels on nearly 11 acres at the industrial park. The company will have up to six months to reach an agreement with the county’s Industrial Development Corp. to purchase the properties.
The company builds consumer products such as barbecue grills, fireplace components and aftermarket automotive parts.
Company officials said they expects to employ about 38 workers there within five years, according to a news release.
“A fair bit of training will be required to run the manufacturing equipment,” said company President James Rose of Murrysville. “I and two of my senior employees are pretty passionate about the trades, and we hope to employ a good number of skilled laborers who should all have opportunities to advance as the company grows.”
The industrial park has 11 parcels on about 80 acres near New Stanton.
