Police accused a Hempfield man of hitting another man with his pickup truck during a fight outside an Irwin bar last month, according to court papers.

Adam Charles Walters, 26, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault by vehicle, reckless endangerment and related offenses. He is free on a recognizance bond.

Police were called at 1:36 a.m. Jan. 19 to Frank & Tucci’s bar on Oak Street for a reported fight. They found a man sitting outside with a towel being held to his arm, according to court papers. A “copious amount of blood” was on the towel, and police said the man had a severe laceration. He had surgery, police said.

Witnesses told police a few men were involved in the fight and other bar patrons, including the injured man, tried to break it up. Investigators said Walters got in his truck and drove into the man. Another person got his license plate information, police said.

An April 1 preliminary hearing is set. Walters’ attorney could not be reached Tuesday.
