Hempfield man accused of stealing $200,000 from motor sports business

A Hempfield man is accused of taking about $200,000 from a Rostraver motor sports business in which he owned a stake, according to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV.

Edward Zdobinski, 49, of Arona Road is accused by Rostraver police of taking about $200,000 from Triple A Motor Sports, 857 Route 51, which sells all-terrain vehicles and motorcycles.

A spokesman for the company could not be reached for comment Saturday.

Court records show Rostraver police filed charges of felony theft of movable property against Zbodinski on Monday, April 11 with Rostraver District Judge Charles Christner.

Rostraver Detective Kerry August could not be reached for comment.

WPXI reported police are searching for him. Authorities say Zdobinski may have fled the country with his girlfriend and could be in Poland.

Attempts by the Trib to reach Zbodinski on Saturday were unsuccessful. A phone listed for Zdobinski answered at the Zdobinski All State Insurance Agency in Unity Township.

Police allege Zbodinski, a partner in the business, took the money over the past two years, according to WPXI.

Law enforcement agencies are trying to determine whether Zdobinski traveled out of either Pittsburgh or Philadelphia, where both have some connections, WPXI said.

Pittsburgh attorney George Farneth II, a lawyer for the alleged victim, told WPXI they are cooperating with police and the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office in the investigation.

“The company is actively investigating Mr. Zdobinski’s conduct. We will have further comment at a later time,” Farneth said.

Farneth could not be reached for comment Saturday.
