A 20-year-old Hempfield man was arrested Thursday on accusations that he raped two girls, ages 11 and 13, whom he met through a social media app.
“They are trying to put me in jail for a long time for something I did not know. They were lying about their ages,” Kilian A. Thomas said outside the state police barracks in Greensburg as he was led in handcuffs to a patrol car.
Thomas contacted the girls through Snapchat and picked them up in his white Jeep Grand Cherokee about 9:45 p.m. Dec. 19 in Unity, Trooper David Wineland alleged in court documents.
Both girls told Wineland that Thomas raped them in the vicinity of Bell Memorial Church Road, also in Unity, Wineland wrote. Thomas then drove the girls back to where he met them.
Evidence from the scene is being analyzed at the state police forensics laboratory in Hempfield.
“We learned about this after the 13-year-old victim told her parents. We were able to obtain information as she was being examined at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh last month,” said Trooper Stephen Limani, a state police spokesman.
Police interviewed the 11-year-old girl this week, according to court documents.
Thomas admitted to state police he had sex with the two, Wineland reported, and accompanied troopers to the scene.
In addition to rape and statutory sexual assault, Thomas is charged with two counts of corruption of minors. He was arraigned before Unity District Judge Michael Mahady and ordered held in the Westmoreland County Prison on $15,000 bond.
