A Hempfield man will serve up to 23 months in jail for exposing himself to two 10-year-old girls in Greensburg last summer.

Ronald Wineland, 61, pleaded guilty Wednesday to a felony charge of corruption of minors and a misdemeanor count of indecent exposure in connection with the incident on Aug. 23.

The girls told police Wineland stood naked before them at a home on Madison Avenue. According to court records, the girls identified Wineland using his nickname “Monk” and specifically described the blue Dodge Ram truck he drove.

Wineland denied the accusations when questioned by investigators a month after the incident, police said.

In court Wednesday, prosecutors agreed to dismiss charges of corruption of minors and open lewdness and consented to a mitigated sentence so the girls would not have to testify at a trial.

Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court Judge Christopher Feliciani ordered Wineland to serve 11-1/2 to 23 months in jail and two years on probation.

Wineland, according to court records, pleaded guilty in 2000 to an indecent exposure incident in Greensburg and was sentenced to serve 3 to 6 months in jail.
