Over 1,500 people were without power in the Fort Allen neighborhood of Hempfield Friday evening.

West Penn Power crews were dispatched shortly before 7:40 p.m., said spokesperson Jeff Straight. Power was restored shortly after 9 p.m. when a fault cleared itself, he said.

Crews still do not know the cause of the outage, Straight said, but about six West Penn officials are working to identify the cause.

Power was originally predicted to be restored around 11:30 p.m.
