A man with a previous conviction for sexual abuse of minors was charged recently with soliciting two underage girls for sexual favors.

Jonathan Hoover, 25, of Hempfield was charged on Aug. 30 with four felonies including unlawful contact with minors, according to court documents.

Hoover was convicted of sexual abuse of minors and possession of child pornography in 2019.

State police were first informed that Hoover violated Megan’s Law in June and conducted an investigation over the course of several months that showed Hoover befriended a 14-year-old girl in Texas and a 12-year-old girl in Utah and requested explicit images from the girls.

Police said Hoover also requested they record videos of themselves performing sexual acts.

He has also been charged for failing to register his social media accounts, as required by the state Megan’s Law.

Hoover had not been arraigned on the new charges as of early Wednesday morning.
