The Allegheny Brass Band performs on the Ligonier Diamond.

The nights are starting to get a little cooler and longer, school is starting back up and a feeling of autumn is creeping into the air. But for now, toasty summer weekends are still for relaxing and having fun. Here are some events to catch while summer is still here:

Allegheny Brass Band

This is the second-to-last installment of the Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Sunday Evening Band Concert series. This week’s band is the Allegheny Brass Band. The band, made up of volunteers, plays a wide variety of music, from pop to traditional and everything in between.

The free concert will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday and will take place on The Diamond in Ligonier. For the full schedule of bands and more information, visit business.ligonier.com.

Art olympics

If you’re feeling post- Olympics blues, don’t fret! Check out The Westmoreland Museum of American Art this Sunday for a creative day with an active twist.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the museum at 221 N. Main St. in Greensburg will be open, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be special activities including obstacle courses, caricature artists, music from a DJ and live performances and — of course — art-related things to do.

Food trucks also will be at the museum to fuel all of that fun. The event is free and open to the public, but consider registering ahead of time. Get all the details and sign up at thewestmoreland.org.

Cemetery marker workshop

For those interested in preservation, or for family members looking to keep loved ones’ cemetery markers in top condition, the Westmoreland Historical Society is holding a fascinating hands-on workshop this Saturday.

Starting at 9 a.m. at Harrison City Presbyterian Cemetery, near 2090 Harrison Ave., award-winning preservationist William Bray will demonstrate how to clean and care for old cemetery markers.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, a soft brush and a bucket to practice the techniques taught during the workshop. The event is free. To learn more, visit westmorelandhistory.org.

Mt. Pleasant car show

This Friday, come out to see some cool classic cars cruise around Frick Park on Etze Avenue in Mt. Pleasant. The cruise benefits next month’s Glass and Ethnic Festival, so auto lovers can cruise for a cause.

It’s $5 to enter a car and $2 for the public to access the cruise. Gates will open for cars at 5 p.m. Saturday and for viewers at 7 p.m. The first 100 cars to enter will receive a dash plaque. This event accepts classic cars and trucks. There will also be food on site for purchase.

Slambovian Circus of Dreams

The free SummerSounds concert series returns this week with intriguingly named group Slambovian Circus of Dreams. This one-of-a-kind band does Americana with a spacey, psychedelic twist and will be a unique experience for this Friday night’s program.

Catch their tunes starting at 7 p.m. in St. Clair Park, 135 S. Maple Ave., Greensburg. Oliver Burdo will provide pre-show music starting at 6:15 p.m. Learn more about this enigmatic artist at summersounds.com.
