Bark in the Boro in Ligonier will include a market of pet-focused vendors, pet photography, activities, demonstrations and swag bags for the first 100 visitors.

Back-to-school time has arrived, but even as summer vacation ends, the weekend’s still wide open to have fun with family. Here are some events to enjoy together.

Bark in the Boro

This Ligonier pet fair will be a perfect day out for you and your pup. Held on the Ligonier Diamond, the event will include a market of pet-focused vendors, pet photography, activities, demonstrations and swag bags for the first 100 visitors to trot up to the scene.

There will be a pet parade starting at 11:30 a.m. to Paws on Main Street, 136 W. Main St. The event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. To learn more, visit business.ligonier.com.

KISS Tribute

Get ready to rock ’n’ roll all night at the Lamp Theatre in Irwin with KISS tribute band MR. SPEED. They’ve been doing this a long time, and they will rock your favorite classic tunes just like the real thing.

With tons of hits to blare from their instruments and even the iconic makeup, hairstyles and fashions of the originals, this tribute act will have you screaming along to “Rock And Roll All Nite” and “Detroit Rock City.”

Shows will be held at the Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin, on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35 each. Visit lamptheatre.org for tickets.

History Alive at Fort Ligonier

This Saturday and Sunday, Fort Ligonier will bring to life another portion of American history as part of their History Alive series. This time, take a peek at the other side of the field at a British officer’s tent from the 18th century and meet Wade Stoner, playing British Capt. Quentin Kennedy.

This is an opportunity to explore the history and day-to-day life of British soldiers during this time, and to see the difference in lifestyles between an average soldier and officer.

The event will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Fort Ligonier, 200 S. Market St., Ligonier. Learn more at fortligonier.org.

SummerSounds

The penultimate SummerSounds installment for this year is coming up Friday, and it’s really bringing the talent for these last two concerts. This week is tribute David Clark’s All About Joel with all of the best hits from legendary singer/songwriter Billy Joel on the St. Clair Park stage.

Come out to dance along to the tunes of the artist who wrote “Uptown Girl,” “She’s Got A Way” and “Piano Man.” With note-perfect piano playing and bright stage presence, Clark will be a fan favorite.

Preshow music by Brothers Kelly will begin at 6:15 p.m., and the headliner will come to the stage at 7 p.m. Friday at 135 N. Maple Ave. in Greensburg. See more at summersounds.com.

Mystic Moths

As part of their restoring native plants and historic gardens initiative, West Overton Village will hold an educational program this weekend about our flying friends, moths.

Most creatures that we call butterflies are actually moths. They make important contributions to our ecosystem, and educators will make the case for why it’s important to help and maintain these lovely creatures.

The program will be led by Penn State Master Gardeners Patti Schildkamp and Deb Christopher. It will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the museum classroom at West Overton Village, 109 W. Overton Road, East Huntingdon. The cost is $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers. Register at westovertonvillage.org.
